His career:
James gained his initial experience in Moto X from the
age of eight before progressing to road racing in the
British 250cc championship in 1992. Having won three
of six rounds, James finished in an impressive second
place in just his second year in the championship. A
year later, he contested in selected rounds of both
the British 250cc and the British Superbike championships,
claiming a Donington victory and two lap records in
250cc's and a first place finish at Snetterton. By now
James had become a frequent front runner and was certainly
noted as a rising British star going on to claim ten
race wins, thirty four podiums and seven lap records
during his recent four years competing in the British
Superbike Championship with three works and one privateer
team. Haydon then moved onto the world superbike series
with Foggy's PETRONAS Racing team in 2003 but found
himself struggling with the new bike and the competition,
and didn't get a ride with them for 2004. James can
now be found in the commentators' box and riding in
the occasional British Superbike round, with Virgin
Mobile Samsung Yamaha as of mid 2004.
