We seem to have the odd bits of information dotted about the forum about this.  I  I did a search and couldn't find a thread about it so thought I would start a thread of its own..

So how much do you pay for insurance, if possible try to provide the following info..

Age, Bike, Type of licence held, Type of cover, Rough Location, Garaged or not, Any mods.. Cost and who policy was with..

Here's mine.

Age 41, Restricted 1992 CBR400, Restricted Licence, Fully Comp, Oxfordshire, Garaged, Only Mod is the restriction which the Insurance company weren't interested in..

Cost £115 with Norwich Union via a broker in town

Age 51, fully comp, Honda cb400 superfour (1992), restricted, live in bournemouth, leave it locked up and covered on open driveway - £94.50

Certainly upsets my son and his mate who pay nearly the same per month as I pay per year

Im 40, Suzuki GSR600, full licence, 3 years NCB, garaged, no proper mods, fully comp - renewed it 2 days ago with Honda Insurance for £130. it also includes me riding other peoples bikes (3rd party), cover abroad (chance would be a fine thing!).

i didn't think that was too bad....

28, CBR600RR, full licence since Sept 08, 6 points and a claim on car, kept outside with lock & chain and cover (live in a flat), no engine mods of any sort... Just a smidgen over £1000 with CIA fully comp!

It's expensive cos the bike's new, kept outside, live close to London and have no no-claims bonus (even though I've been a named rider on my partners CG125 for a year now!). CIA did take into account that I've been driving 10+ years, have my own car and have some bike experience, but it was still expensive (but the cheapest I can find).

I've been told by insurance companies that my premium will drop like a brick once I get my 1 year's no-claims bonus.

21, ER-5, full licence since end of March(!), Fully comp, West Sussex, Garaged, + aftermarket exhaust...

I'm with Dial Direct, £450/yr with £500 excess.... £100 of which is for the exhaust, the bloody dealer didn't have the original to fit and it would have cost me the same or more to get an original anyway.

Damn being so young, and I'm really not looking forward to moving it to London soon with no garage. Just glad I'm not male!!!

Woh!  And I thought mine was on the steep side.

Mine - 20yrs old, Restricted License passed 29/01/09, ZXR 400 (restricted), garaged and alarmed, insured through MCE and I pay about £32 a month.

Yea yea, go ahead, laugh at my misery! Worth it though, having an Italian Superbike justifies anything.

What's the point of this thread?  There are so many variables that the figures do not provide any kind of comparison.

Not gonna bother with the ins and outs of my insurance details as it's meaningless to compare with everyone else.  However, what I can say is that at my renewal last week, I got my first year's no claims bonus and my renewal premium went down by over 25% from last year (when I was a bike insurance virgin).

I put my GSR600 on hubby's ebike multi-policy and they gave him a refund!

The sTrumpet is £73 full comp with no restrictions on a classic policy.

But I did hit the half century this year and have had a full licence since I was 17.....
