Girls and guys,
I'm 42 and was wondering if I'm too old to start racing?? also I'm thinking of doing the roadstock class, but not sure of the criteria for the bike, been told it just needs a daytime MOT. Is there anything else I should know??
thanks

Hi There, JUST DO IT !! I am 44 yo mother of twins who took my licence as 39 yo. Last year I raced 600ccm European Championship for ladies as 43yo. This year I am racing an international series in Europe. 600ccm. Guys also seem to start late. Most important is to get proper quality gear! Not neccesary the most expensive! Guess it is a money question ;) Hope to see you out there. To repeat my self: JUST DO IT !!

Yep just do it dude.
You will love it, I do..
As far as roadstock goes, I think you have to have a working horn, the headlight has to be taped up and the sump plug has to be lockwired, also you will need to fit a sharkfin to the swingarm..
I think thats about it from memory.
If your curious as to what goes on at a race meeting then come along to Darley moor on 4th of may n say hi.
Skelly..

Thanks guys and girls, I'm going to do it, just need to find a really cheapish bike now, another R6 I think, got all the other gear and the other half is a dab hand with the lockwire!!!
then it will be a trip down to Rugby to ACU house and away we go.
thanks for the encouragement, just need the pennies now!!!

it never happened this year, other half was out of work so money was really tight, BUT things are looking alot more hopeful this year, got the bike sorted, and ready to go, gotta sort my ACU license just after the new year then me and the o/h are both good to go all being well, going to join EMRA as Mallory is really local and I've done loads of track days there.
will keep you posted lol

II've got a 2000 R6 race-ready bike going for sale. Price depends on whether just want the bike or all the extras like wheels, warmers, stands etc. PM me if you are interested at all.
ps I started racing at 39! So I definitely say GO FOR IT!!

Hope to see you out on track as i'm racing in 400 Roadstocks with EMRA. It will be good to see a few more of us Gals out there. There's only one problem with racing it's so addictive but brilliant fun.

I'm hoping to get to a couple of EMRA meetings as well on my 400 (not a
roadstock though)
I did the last meeting in september and really enjoyed it. i surprised myself
by not finishing last both races. Given I used to absolutely hate Mallory, I
managed to have a good day out!
see you in 2010 i hope!

Well done on taking the plunge.
You just gotta take opportunities when they come and get on with it.
Besides age is all in the mind - if the head and the heart is willing thats all you need.
