I seem to be having trouble uploading photo's - I use the "Image Upload" button and then browse to the folder etc - but after pressing "ok" that I will wait for the site to upload, the window then gives an error message and nothing happens....any ideas?

I seem to have this same prob all the time, nearly all my pic's are too big weather taken on my camera or mobile!  I have found that sometime's pic's that I have copied & pasted from somewhere else seem to work, for example I copied & pasted a pic from my facebook pictures & that uploaded fine, whereas the same picture wouldnt upload from my normal photo's folder!

If you have FB maybe you could try that with your dogs pic, post it onto FB then copy & paste it back to your photo's, then try to upload it to here.  It may not work, but worth a try.

Hiya, I'm afraid this forum isn't clever enough to reduce your photo sizes like Facebook. As Carol says, you could use Facebook as a reducing tool. If you have Windows then you might have the Microsoft Image Editor which lets you do it, or any graphics program which lets you save as a jpg.

There's a bit of a hiatus on the new site and forum but when that happens I think pictures will be a bit easier.

I have reduced the size of the photo's to well under the limit, but still no good - not to worry...

Instead of uploading image, use add image and link to the pic elsewhere... photobucket/facebook etc, it doesn't matter how big the photo is then as all you are giving this forum is the hyperlink.

For example, upload to facebook, once uploaded, right click on the image and select properties, this will bring you up an info box, one of the bits of information is "image location" this is a hyperlink to the place the image is stored on facebook's servers. Copy the image location to your clipboard (highlight the full location, right click and on the new menu select copy)

Click "Add image" that's the pick of the tree without the arrow, this will then ask for image location, paste in the information you've just copied to your clipboard and then click preview. This should give you your pic in your message.

There may be a permission problem on uploads and images - I'm looking into it.

It turned out not to be a simple permission problem.

We now believe that there is a problem with the upload software that the current version of the forum uses - it's a bit elderly and doesn't appear to like modern 64-bit servers.

One option is to upgrade to a newer version of the forum software,  but Susie has had me looking at some new software where the forum is more directly integrated with the rest of the site contents, and that would be the preferred solution, both in terms of features, and technically.

It's taking longer than we expected, but we do expect to make progress on this shortly.

Best regards

Dave.

Susie will have to confirm on this,  but I believe that the new site is now making good progress after a few glitches with security settings, and a couple of bugs in bought-in software.  The remaining significant one is that it's a tad slow for the first visitor after it's been quiet for a while.
