Feisty Racing

Sorry, but we are not actively recruiting for the Academy in 2008. We are able to offer advise though, so please get in touch.

Join the Feisty Academy
There aren't enough female motorcycle racers! We aim to encourage ladies into motorcycle racing with the help of ladies who already race. We aim to get girls onto podiums.
Who are we looking for?
Ladies who want to race motorcycles! You don't have to be a racer already. You don't even have to have done a track day (though it helps). You don't even have to own a current bike! You need the desire to compete and the self belief to think you can win. You also need enough in your wallet to pay for the basics to start, and the time to put into it - find out more below. Get in touch, join us on a track day and get a team member to assess you.

Joining the team
OK, it's never going to be that easy. In fact you have to prove yourself and earn a place in the team, and to do that you have to put some effort in. Fortunately when we're looking for new recruits we'll have some track days organised which you'll need to book onto to be considered - you need to come to us. Special circumstances will always be considered (daddy owns a race track and is going to give us fifty grand may just sway it).

Mentoring
Feisty Racing will help you start out, offering advice for your rookie year and beyond. You will join our team in the Feisty Racing marquee and share tips, tools, techniques and general camararderie. It can seem overwhelming trying to learn everything in the early days - use the experience of the team to ensure that you don't have to learn the hard way. We can help you develop your skills both on and off track in order to make yourself competitive. From the Rookie races you can move up to other competitions within the team.

Assessment
The first step into the Feisty Academy is to attend a Race School or Track Day with a member of Feisty Racing along to assess you. From this we'll be able to give you guidance, whether it is to join the team as soon as you can, or to get some more track time, etc. Contact the team managers (Susie or Deb) to arrange this.

Training

We shall provide as much information as we can prior to you starting racing and during your membership of the team. We attend many track days during the year, often with team members instructing. The training will continue into the racing year, with track and test days between races for those who can spare the resource. 2007 has seen a more structured approach to training, with the introduction of the Academy, and this will only improve in the coming years. We shall arrange specific training sessions, and shall ensure that race meeting training takes place - this includes a track walk, track talk, suspension advice, maintenance advice and personal tutoring. Where possible we shall try to arrange experts to advise on specific areas.

Exposure
As a member of the Feisty Academy you will be taking part in a large and enthusiastic raising of the profile of female bike racing. We are promoting Bikegirl and Feisty Racing in both motorcycle and national press with the aim of attracting sponsorship, more girl racers and even more exposure.

Team equipment
To help you out and keep starting costs to a minimum, you can share the team marquee, and can also borrow tools from others. We share items such as generators, BBQ, power tools, cleaning equipment. You will need the basic tools and enough to ensure you can attend track days on your own if you want to.

The team look
The Feisty girls take pride in their team look, with T-shirts and team leathers, paintwork, shirts, etc. Some of this is sponsored (fully or partially) and can depend on a racer's performance or potential.

What do you need to provide?
Initially you will need to pay your own way to start racing. We can't offer an initial package unless you have particularly special circumstances which would be attractive to a sponsor (e.g. you're a celebrity, etc.), but as the team grows and you progress in the racing field, sponsorship will start to become available to you intially in the form of products.
Find out more about the initial racing costs here, but do contact us if you are serious about racing.
You also need to make all of the race meetings and as many pre-race practice days as possible, plus ideally some track days too. This generally means an understanding boss. Take a look at the provisional Bemsee schedule.

What do you need to display?

You will be provided with team stickers and promotional information, and will be expected to display these on your bike and person. As the team equipment increases then this should also be used. All sponsorship logos will, of course, need to be displayed since you will be benefiting from this.

Anything else?
Yes - all of the planned media exposure will need to cover Feisty Racing from time to time, therefore you may need to give up some of your time at race meetings (obviously not interfering with your racing schedule!) and at other times as well. This will all be on an ad-hoc basis, and will be worked into media and your schedules.
