Lisa's update 18th
April
As the only team in the British
Championship running the Yamaha TZ 125 we have
no data built up to work from but the initial
results have been very promising, Lisa is lapping
much faster than she did last year at every
track, it seems that the little TZ suits her.
But she crashed out of qualifying at Brands
and then the bike stopped on the warm up lap
of the race at Thruxton after she had done a
great job in qualifying for the grid. “I
Like the Yamaha very much and it suits my Bridgestone
tyres which are working much better for me this
year. After winning my first race and having
a crash early on, my confidence is quite high
and I am able to push the bike much harder which
is helping with the lap times.
I am now travelling to the
track on my own due to work commitments, but
I must thank Paul and Steve of ‘Tech Compliance
Ltd’ who have helped me greatly with this.”
Smiled a very happy Lisa.
Lisa will be joined
in the Team this weekend at Mallory Park by
Midge Smart – Midge who will concentrate
on the Spanish GP 125 Championship this season
is to have a one off ride and will race the
Teams 04 RS 125 using Dunlop Tyres.
LISA TAKES 1ST WIN
This weekend we
continued our testing and race program building
towards the start of the British Championship
kick off at Brand Hatch next weekend.
We took Lisa and her Yamaha TZ 125 to Croft
Circuit in the north east of England for a 2
day 4 race program to continue the rebuilding
of her confidence.
Practice went well with Lisa matching her times
from last years British Championship race at
the same circuit but in much colder conditions.
Saturday's 2 races were run over 10 laps each
just 8 laps short of the British Championship
distance over the 2.3 mile circuit
Lisa made a not bad start in the first race
quickly moving into 2nd behind the factory Malaguti,
she match the times of the leader but could
not close in on him - taking a very strong 2nd
place at the flag. The second race was a carbon
copy of the first but Lisa took the fastest
lap of the race although not fast enough to
again pass the leader.
Dennis who's local track is Croft spent quite
some time talking to and showing Lisa the best
way around the place on Saturday evening to
good effect.
Sunday the weather took a turn for the worse
and racing did not start until after lunch and
Lisa featured in the 1st race of the day - making
a not very good start she put Dennis's knowledge
to good use taking the race lead on lap 4, she
stretched this lead to the flag taking her first
career Victory and the first for Team NVIDIA
-2005 Race 2 was a different story Lisa made
the start and lead the race into the 1st turn
never to be headed to the flag.
Lisa now leads this championship and although
its not one we will follow all season it is
a great confidence boost as we move into the
much harder British Championship next week end.
" This has been a great weekend although
only a club meeting and not as competitive as
the British Championships. We have found a great
set up for the little NVIDIA Yamaha and I feel
at home already on it. I know I will find it
much harder at the British but I will be giving
it my best as I feel everything within the Team
is going well. My first hurdle will be qualifying
at Brands as there are many good riders out
there but once I am on the grid they better
watch out" laughed Lisa
" we have now done everything we can in
a very short space of time for both the 125
and the Superbike to be ready for the 1st round
of the British Championship - we will be looking
for Dennis to score 1 or 2 points at Brands
and Lisa to continue her road onto and up the
grid. We look forward to seeing you all there
and reporting all the stories as they unfold
"
2nd March: Lisa's
first test on the Yamaha TZ 125
Today at Mallory
part amongst the snow Lisa completed her first
shake down test of the new Yamaha TZ 125
She completed 38 trouble free laps in the sub
zero conditions. " It was good fun to finally
ride the little Yam today although
my fingers are falling off with the cold. It
seems to steer a lot easier than the Honda and
get off the turns too - but its quite a while
since I last rode a bike so everything seems
the be happening quickly. I am very happy to
be back on Ohlins suspension it is definitely
the best for me. I can not wait for the next
test, maybe this Saturday at Cadwell - snow
permitting" said a shivering Lisa.
Brent's commented " its far too bloody
cold for this carry on - but we don't have long
to the first race meeting so we will be out
as much as possible now. Lisa and the TZ have
both done well today - it seems from this first
outing that we have made a step in the right
direction using the Yamaha and moving back to
Ohlins we must thank Matts for all his help."
26th July 2004 Great
weekend at the MotoGP Donington
"I
got my hands on Rossi's Bum!"
I have been looking forward to the GP for quite
a while, Brent and the Team have many friends
in the paddock so we get to see and touch things
most can only dream of! I had to work Saturday
morning - working extra is the only way I can
arrange time for my own race program. Brent
and the other members of the Team had been down
on the other days and said traffic was bad so
I jumped on the back of a trick 1200s Bandit
and cut through it all down the back roads.
We meet up with Geoff Crust at the back of Yamaha
garage and we got the full guided tour! Those
bikes are fantastic; the swing arm is the same
design as standard R1 just a little longer.
Geoff told us that to make the crank case, a
90kg block of Aluminium was put into a CNC machine
and 2 days later a set of nine cases were finished
- they are trick. I got to sit on the bike and
had pictures taken. The best part was getting
my hands on Rossi's bum ah ah ah! What do you
think (click on the red title link above to
see it)?
We have a few other pictures on our web
site for you to laugh at.
