What a great day, it was sunny and warm so a great days racing beckoned. It was a club round so no qualifying just morning practice. I had Huddy’s GSXR master cylinder on after launching the bike at Snetterton in the wet and cracking my AP. So good time to test the old brakes. Practice went well so I was all set for the day.

Race One
Drawn 16th. A good start saw me diving into Gerard’s on the inside lying about 10th. The only trouble with the inside is you can get boxed in and low and behold whilst the chap in front pottered round Gerard’s I was trying to fight my way out to get round him. Felt like last into Edwina’s but as the laps clicked by managed to pick those in front off one by one and crawled my way back to 16th.

Race Two
Drawn 14th. Aha I thought not getting boxed in this time! I’ll be leaning on people me thinks! Off we went, about 10th ish again and held my place round Gerard’s. Great off we go. On the way out of Gerard’s someone got it wrong and was on the grass flying along moto x style. Coming into Edwina’s this guy still hasn’t managed to get on the track and I’m thinking “what’s he gonna do”. I get to Edwina’s the same time as he does. I actually thought he was going to join the track and probably not look so I stayed deep to give myself a bit of room. No got it wrong. Yes he tried to join at Edwina’s but lost it in doing so and went on his arse. The bike however skidded into the track and I hit it. All I saw was the nice blue sky. Must have been a great wheelie. Pity the CBR pulled the bike away from underneath me and I landed unceremoniously on my arse with my head following a close second. I got up after doing the fingers and toes bit to see my bike still lying on the CBR.
The other rider was apologetic and said thought he could rejoin in a space. Mmm, whatever!

The Aftermath
The bike had hydrauliced, had all the usual cosmetic damage, a broken radiator and crushed down pipes. I’d written off an Arai and a pair of gloves.

I had a track day booked at Brands on the 4th but got out with the standard headers. This meant the engine was restricted quite badly and with semi repaired cosmetics the bike looked like a pile of pooh, but we were there.

I've invested a lot of money into tuning my engines tuned which has paid off this year. I'm enjoying my racing more now I am starting to see the results from the hard work and expense.
