Ruth
Laidlow and Helen Sutherland
have broken new ground with their all-girls crew competing
in the 2004 Isle of Man TT races. Ruth, the pilot, is
a stable girl with the David Barker set-up at Scorton,
near Richmond, Yorkshire is the driver. She has been
a passenger since 1988, but suffered serious injuries
in a crash at the South African GP in the early 1990s.
The idea of driving an outfit came to her at last year's
Festival of Sidecars at Mallory Park. |

Jenny
Kaulbach, from Germany, competed in the 2004
Red Bull Rookies cup which accompanies the European
rounds of the MotoGP. She is having an astounding season,
with multiple podiums. She lead the most recent race
for 13 laps before a battle on the 14th lap; unfortunately
the race was stopped due to a crash when she was behind
so she had to settle for second place. |

Katja
Poensgen Katja
won the German Supermono European Championship on Suzuki
BMR 741 in 1998. What a lady! She went on to compete
in the European Superstock Challenge with Alstare Corona,
a support series with the World Superbikes. She managed
a podium 2nd placing and ended up 6th in the championship.
She then went on to compete in the World 250GP in 2001
with Shell/Advance Honda and again with Team Dark Dog
Molenaar Racing in 2003, but unfortunately things didn't
go so well for her there.
This year she's going to the races but not competing,
not sure if she's planning a return. We hope so - she's
talented, personable and of course very pretty.
