November 2007

Wot a weekend I had- it was awesome. A got to meet Jim Moodie at the big bike presentation dance on Saturday nite. He is ma fav rider. ever

I got the best presented bike n rider of the 2007 season at Kirkcaldy. Jim told me never ever to change the colour of ma bike. There is only one color n its got to be pink.

He spent ages talkin to me n givin me tips.

A was the only female to get a trophy. A had got new shoes n ma feet were hurtin but a didnt care a felt brill n had a good nite. A even got ma hair done specially wot a bother a had to get my helmet on the next day coz it was the last round of the mini-bikes.

We stayed in the hotel at the dance n had mega fun. A had to go to bed at 11 thogh coz a was up at 8 to get to the racin - my mom says am a nitemare if a dont get enough sleep !!!!!!!!!!

A was up for 3rd in the Scottish championship but spent more time on ma bum then on ma bike. A had a terrible day Well terrible results n a lost 3rd in the championship. The racing was still fun though.

In ma wee bike class a got t-boned twice n hit the deck. A never gave up though an a finished all ma races an a wasnt last

Ma big bike class was a wee bit better a think a finished 5th overall.

Ma big bro Andy won the Junior Scottish Championship
Go Andy !!!!!!!! He finished 2nd overall on his proddy bike n 3rd in the open.

Roll on next year

Aberdeen October 2007

I got my first race win on ma proddy bike at Aberdeen on Sunday. I was sooooo pumped. Only girl in ma class n I beat all the boys.

My Mom n Dad had taken me practicing two weeks ago so I could get my gearing right n check ma bikes out. Even though we had mega time travelling it was really worth it. Everything was sorted. Did ma practice n qualified 3rd on ma wee junior bike and 4th on my proddie bike.

The track is really tight n twisy I was gettin ma knee down at most corners and Im managing to keep my corner speed up. I felt really ok and tried to keeep my riding smooth. Andrew my big brother is brill at giving me tips. If we end up having a practice session together he shows me the best lines.

I won my first ever race win on ma proddie bike. We had to race for 10 laps- the track is wee so had to cut ma way through the back markers. Its hard coz I would never knock anyone off if I could help it. The boys were right on ma tail so just kept ma head down , my mom was helping do the flags n I couldnt wait to see the last lap flag. It was the longest lap ever. When a got the chequered flag I just punched the air.

I got such a cheer on the podium. Im now sitting 3rd in the championship so the last round will be down to the wire. I so want to finish in 3rd overall.

Ma wee bike class was really hard. am one of the biggest riders but its still mega fun. Had ma 4 races in this class and managed to finish 4th overall.

Andrew got t-boned twice in his races but managed 2 seconds n a 3rd so he is still leading his junior class and is 2nd in the middle weights n 3rd in the open class. Go Andy !!!

Andy is gettin 2nd overall in the Kirkcaldy district MCC dance for 2007. Im looking forward to it. We are going to stay at the hotel for the dance then go straight to the last round in Kirkcaldy on the Sunday morning. I got a really nice dress.

My dad picked me up a rolling frame 125 n wheels for £125 off ebay and with spare bits we had in the hut and the engine he rebuilt after I blew ma engine up (Ooppps) I have a spare running bike. Yipeeeeeeeee. Roll on next year ...........

At least a have ma mini bikes to keep me busy. Am also trainin hard for ma 2nd dan black belt in tae kwon do. Am trying really really hard to keep ma fitness level up. am gonna beat those boys next year.

Knockhill October 2007

I was soooooooooooooooo lookin forward to last weekend at Knockhill. It was the last round of the Kirkcaldy championships n the Jock taylor races tooo.

The weather was even warm n dry . that doesnt happen very often up here !!!

We were out in race 7 n race 14. We still hadnt raced by 4 oclock there was so many accidents. Everyone's points were so close everybody was going nuts n pulling some mental passes. Then a side car dumped oil on the track. !!!! it took ages to clean up.

At lunch time there were rides in a side car for charity but I wasnt allowd coz i ws to young only got to wait another 5 years !!!!!!

Then finally it was time for my race I was so nervous. Did the outlap onto the grid and then got half a lap n ma brakes failed. I was totally gutted. My Dad had bother trying to adjust them coz ma hands r so small. Turns out it was something to do with the return on the fluid n the piston. Thankfully there r sorted now.

A just pulled off the track n watched the race a was cheerin on my big bro Andrew. He took a full second off his lap times. Go andy

Taylor Mckenzie fell off right in front of me I got a fright but he was OK- then ma other pal Niall came off to. We all ended up in the back of the rcovery van together which was fun. They had to help me hold ma bike up.

My mom was really worried about me but she didnt worry about ma bike only me - I got a huge cuddle when I got out the van.

coz of all the accidents our 2nd race was cancelled we are gettin some of the race money back though

Andy finished 2nd overall in the championship in his first year which is brill

a dropped to 14th coz of ma dnf

Next year am gonna be top 10 a hope....

Next outing ma minibike in Aberdeen in 3 weeks. Then hopefully a can get out on ma RS at Knockhill on the at a track day.

Cant wait for next yar ma Da has pickd up a frame and is gonna build me a spare bike for next year

Knockhill 9th September 2007

Well wot a weekend I had- it was brill

I have taken ma lap times down from a 1:33 at the start of the season to my PB of 1:13.44 at the weekend. boy am I happy.

Saturday practice was a bit scary as the formula 125s were out with the GP bikes as well as the old classics. I just tried to stick to ma lines and stay out of trouble.

I had completed about 5 laps in the first practice when I went into the hairpin, my brakes failed I got such a fright. I overshot but managed to keep it on the track just and made a very quick exit up to pit lane.

Thankfully my Da was on hand with ma big bro Andy and got to the problem. Turned out I had a hole in the rubber bit that goes in the brake fluid holder. After bleeding the brakes and ma Da taking the bike for a check I was good to go......

2nd practice was good think my lines down the chicane were OK and I felt faster. I was trying to practice ma breaking points. Andy let me follow him and it really helped.

Sunday was windy and I was getting blown about in the practice. Before our qualifying session there was a big crash and we were held back. Didnt get our 10 minutes only 5. I didnt get a clear track coz we were out with the classics again. Managed not to be last and qualified on the 4th row 14th out of 18.

Had a good race 1 - ended up 14th but at least I finished Had a couple of scary times with a crash right in front of me then i managed to completely miss my braking point.

Before race 2 Wallace Mitchell from WM racing came to see me- he is really nice and I had been to one of his track nights after I blow up my last engine. He gave me stickers for ma bike n helmet and also some cash towards ma racing. I was soooooooo happy.

Race 2 I got ma PB time and also beat 3 classics finished 13th and wasnt last- even managed to outbreak a rider going into the hairpin so ma practice paid off. Then coz Im so light managed to zoom up the straight well in front of him even though ma bikes not tuned but his was!

Best of all was my bro Andy won. He got £100 prize money and is sitting 2nd in the championship. Im now 12th. Downside was that folk were passing on the yellow flags-dont boys read the rules on flags????????

My mom is happy coz we were both in 1 piece and so were the bikes

The one bad thing about the weekend was that some nasty person stole a set of tyres from another racer- how low is that ma pet hates are folk that steal, or drop litter !!!Ma Da said that racing is dear enough without thiefs.

Anyway Im racing at Larkhall this weekend on ma minibike. Yeeeeeehhaaaaaaa

Larkhill August 2007

I woz racing at Larkhall on ma mini bike last weekend. It was mega

Saturday was a play day - the racing woz organized by Lucky Devils. Had a couple of showers of rain that made the track really slippy. Managed to try some different gearing for the Scottish championship on the Sunday. It was really strange that all the production bikes no matter wot weight group your in race together. So a was out with ma big bro Andrew as well as loads of Adults. Managed to hang on a few tails n try some new lines.

Andy took the booby prize of the best crash - He managed to drop water on the racing line cozin a massive crash, he only took out about 12 other riders. Thankfully no one was hurt they just slid.......

Saturday night a just chilled, its brill lying all cosy in ma bed with the rain battering off the caravan roof........Sunday morning the track was like a swimming pool. Ma Da changed our tyres n gearing. I had to run wets- even then there was hardly any grip.

We got two practices but a only went out in one. Within minutes a was soaked. My top half was ok coz I have a wet suit. When a clenched my hands the water was running oot ma gloves. By the end of ma 8 races my hands were bright red coz the dye had run oot ma gloves. First race was ma wee junior bike, I didnt even try n get ma knee down it was so bad. A just talked to myself about staying out the puddles and out the spray from anyone in front. Had a major slide off at the hairpin it woz so wet a just slid n slid- thankfully ma bike was still running and a got back on in no time. I got good starts n just got ma head down. Think I finished maybe 4th or 5th overall.

Next a was oot on ma proddie bike. I had to be careful not to highside. I got a 2nd, 2 thirds n a fourth giving me 3rd overall on the day. It was hard going. Between races a was hiding in the caravan sittin in the loo- ma mum had the heating on and it was toastie hot. She tried drying our gloves in the oven between races tooooo.

Go meeeeeeee I have now moved up to 4th in the championship.

I had a ball on sunday - even though a felt a had had a wee accident in ma suit it was so wet with the rain n spray ( if ye no wot a mean !!!)

My bro had an even better day with 2 overall 1sts n a 3rd in his 3 classes.

I dont mind rain think its coz when a did motoX a was always falling off into the bggest puddles round the track. A was just trying to be as smooth as a could.

My mom didnt take any pics coz she was scared her camera wold get wet but check out the link for some pics from ken christie

Achievement to date – Scottish Moto-X Champion & Scottish mini-moto Champion (1st ever female to win a national championship)

Racing debut – October 2000 – Moto-X at Leuchars (Glenrothes Youth Moto-X youth meeting)

Background

I started racing Moto-X when I was 6 on a borrowed Polini X1 moto-X bike.  My big bro Andrew was also racing and became double Scottish Champion in 2000.  I loved racing against the boys and managing to beat them.  I won my 1st Scottish Championship in 2001 when I was 7.  As I was so small my Dad had to adapt my polini as I couldn’t touch the ground.  He also put the brakes from the front end of a Kawasaki KX onto my Polini as I didn’t have the strength to pull the brakes !!!!

I moved onto mini-bikes when I was 8 – My first bike was called “Daisy” and was bright pink.  I was the only female racing in the Scottish Championship.  We had 4 races per meeting and the Championship was run over 8 or 9 rounds at both in-door & out door tracks. In 2004  I won 7 of the 8 rounds outright  this made me the 1st female mini-moto champion . I had great fun no matter what the weather was like.  I actually prefer wet weather coz the bike slides more.  I love getting ma knee down.

My brother Andrew got an RS125 last year to start big bike racing – My Dad had picked up a spare RS from Ebay for spare bits – I thought anything boys can do so can I- so I annoyed my Mom n Dad until they let me have a go on a wee back road close to my house.   I was hooked.  I borrowed one piece leathers to sit my assessment at Knockhill Racing circuit last October.  You have to be 12 to sit your assessment.  I sat my written test in the morning then got my bike checked before getting let loose on the track.  I had been given a diagram of Knockhill with the names of the corners to learn, I thought it was flat- boy was I wrong at the hair pin……anyway I passed my assessment with flying colours.

My RS125 is totally standard. My Dad painted it bright pink so the boys I’m racing with know it's me and give me more space. He need not have worried coz they are brilliant and give me plenty room.   All the riders in the Scottish Championship are great they give me advice.

I also joined the Scottish Junior Academy which gives me expert one-to-one training on track by riders such as Niall McKenzie and Craig Jones.  I have cut my lap times from 1:33 down to 1:14.  I still have a long way to go but I am enjoying my racing.

I am running a proper race gear box without too much bother. I am sitting 11th  in the Kirkcaldy District Championship; only another 3 races and I will hopefully get my novice bib off.  I am 5th & 7th in the Mini-bike Scottish Championship.

How long have you been biking? Since I could get on the back of my Dads Fireblade at about two- started racing at 6 and still going strong

My Mom and Dad inspired me to take up racing.  They took me over to the Isle of Man and the North West to watch.  My Mom always said I can be every bit as good as the boys.  She is a biker and I go pillion with her.

I look up to Rossi coz he started his racing in mini-moto’s just as I have & also Jim Moodie – I shared an ice-cream with him in Ireland !!

What do you do in your spare time? I am a black belt at Tae-Kwon Do; the training keeps me very fit and helps with my stamina. I have represented Scotland for Tae-Kwon Do. I love my trampoline and am also part of the school dance team.  I also have a KX85 which I use as much as I can.   I love having my friends round for sleep-overs.

Who's your favourite racing hunk? I don’t really have a favourite racing hunk- but some of the boys I race with are cute !!!!

What do your friends and family think of you racing? My friends think its really cool that I race; they try and come watch me as much as they can. My family support me 100% especially my big bro Andrew who is always helping me with my lines and how I can go faster.

Have you ever crashed? If so how serious was it and why hasn't it put you off? I have crashed loads of times but thankfully nothing too serious.  I don’t think I would ever be put off racing. I end up with loads & loads of bruises, I get some funny looks when I put my shorts on for gym !!!
