That has got to be the MOST AWESOME RACE of the year!!!

The adrenalin is just starting to filter away, my voice has gone hoarse from shouting, christ this is what it's all about!

We had a free for all on the first 6 positions for the first 10ish laps with Tomada and Rossi swapping paint at the front by lap 12 - what a remarkable acheivement for Tomada - it was just such bad luck when his tyre gave up the ghost 10 laps to go and he was out of it.

Gibernau finally battled his way up through the crowds with 10 laps to go after a bad start, then commenced a Gibernau / Rossi / Biaggi battle with the 2 Hondas occasionally passing the Yamaha on pure power on the straights but The Doctor getting them back with pure corner ability and willpower on the brakes.

Then with 6 laps to go the rain started to fall and Rossi called it with his hand up.... under the new(ish) GP rules this means a new race with 5 laps and starting positions according to where the riders finished in the first race, but no aggregrate times or positions - basically a free-for-all.

By this time Troy Bayliss had fought his way up to 6th so had a good chance. There the racers were with a declared wet race, all sporting full slicks for the restart because the sun had emerged again... then just before the 2 warmup laps it started spitting again! Jeremy McWilliams took a gamble and swapped his bike for his 2nd with wets, but noone else followed suit.

The new 5 lap race was real edge-of-seat stuff - you just have to see it. The rain was off and on and then off. Rossi won his second GP of the year. Giberbau got second and Biaggi got third... But with 2 laps to go Reuben Xaus and Troy Bayliss were both out in front at various points! Is this 2003 World Superbikes???

Troy Bayliss ended in fourth - what a shame he didn't manage to squeeze Max out for a podium.
Shakey in the points in 10th!

I'm having a rest to get my blood pressure down.
