Round 8, Brands Hatch 1st August

The weekend
Brands Hatch organisers have excelled themselves. Donington Park please take note!
Great camping, loos and showers cleaned every few minutes with plenty of hot water, sinks and mirrors. A well spaced out campsite with a Sainsburys' shop (as usual) and good security made Brands seem more like camping on the South Coast.
It helped that the weekend was blessed with glorious sunshine of course, as the Brands WSB often seems to be.

The Po Boys played on Saturday night. That was a little odd - three separate acoustic sets in a marquee with the band members sitting on stools and sipping water. It seems a little incongruous when we're more used to a mosh pit and mud wrestling. Hopefully we'll be back to normal next year.

The Races

The racing was marred somewhat by Fabien Foret's horrific looking crash on his Yamaha in the Supersport race. He was run over by 2 bikes in a high speed incident, though it appears it may not be as bad as it looked on the big screen.

The ever popular Noriyuki Haga made it a double win with an outstanding performance to emerge only 6 points of the championship lead. Maybe he can make up for that (seemingly) unfair drug incident a couple of years ago. However Chris Vermeulen was on form again and end only 2 points behind championship leader Regis Laconi.

Frankie Chili had a crash in Race One, looking defeated as he walked from the kitty litter, but managed to fight again in race two to take second place. Haga let him have centre seat at the press conference - respect was due.

James Toseland had a bad day with a 7th and a crash. Chris Walker pulled a brilliant 4th place in race two.
