Scrutineering

Clothing
You must wear a one piece (not zipped together 2 piece) suit of not less than 1.2mm if leather in thickness or 1.5mm if material which must be fire resistant and resistant to abrasion. There must be at least a double layer of leather or enclosed plastic foam on your shoulders, elbows, both sides of your torso, hips and the knees. Gloves must be leather. You are not allowed to wear any metallic material on areas which frequently come into contact with the track (Toe / knee sliders for example)

Helmet
You helmet must have a current dated ACU sticker (2 lines around the gold badge currently) and be in good condition and fit properly

ID Disks
You are required to wear ID disks whenever out on track. They must have your full name and DOB engraved on them and be between 20 – 25mm in diameter with no sharp edges

Bike
The carrying of camera equipment on bikes is prohibited except with permission of the Chief Scruitineer

Engine and frame numbers
You must have both engine and frame numbers of your bike which are untampered

Engine size
It’s forbidden to use a machine whose engine capacity does not conform to the appropriate regulations

Number Boards
Number boards and numbers must be the right colour according to your class. The numbers must be easy to read and not obstructed in any way

Noise control
A maximum of 102 dB/A is allowed for superbike, supersport, superstock and junior superstock, for all other machines a maximum of 105dB/A is allowed

Exhaust pipes
The end of your exhaust pipe must not project past any part of your bike or fairing

Handlebars
Handlebars must not be any shorted than 450mm, and they must be able to rotate a minimum of 15 degrees.

Clutch and brake levers
Levers must be ball ended or rounded and must not measure more than 200mm

Throttle
Throttle controls must be self closing when not held by the hand

Open transmission guards
Chain guard!

Footrests
Foot rests must be round ended with a spherical radius of not less than 6mm

Oil Containment
The lower fairing must be constructed in such a way that in can hold at least half of the total oil and coolant capacity of the engine. It must be drilled with no more than 2 holes of 25mm in diameter. These holes must remain closed in dry conditions as declared by the clerk of the course. All oil drain plugs must be tight and secured by lockwire, oil filters must be secured.

Oil catch tanks and breathers
Where an oil breather pipe is attached the outlet must discharge into a catch tank located in an easily accessible position

Radiator
The only liquid permitted in radiators, other than lubricant oil must be water

Brakes
For machines fitted with two front brake disks the split in the front brake lines must be made above the lower fork bridge

Tyres
Read your ACU book to see what is and isn’t allowed in your race series

In the event of a crash:
Your machine will be taken to scrutineering and will have noted down fixes which need to be made in order for you to race again. It is then your responsibility to fix any issues and return the machine to scrutineering to be approved before being allowed back out on track
