Alan and Phil were
given Sunday very late on by the circuit, so very
kindly offered us 10 free places to get our new team
up and running. Susie and I were frantically trying
to fill it, but at such short notice and Pembrey being
the other end of the world, we managed 8 peeps. Pembrey
is a fantastic circuit, it’s a shame I hadn’t
discovered it before a few months ago as it’s
just down the M4 for me. I had visions of it being
a bit rough when in fact it’s quite the opposite,
the surface is A1 and the mix of corners makes it
a really technical track, where you can only improve
with time spent on it. I love it there.
Tazzie and I were already booked on for the Saturday
so we arrived Friday night, set up the Bikegirl marquee
and got an early night.
Saturday was not a Bikegirl day but there were some
ladies there who we hopefully managed to conscript,
I mean get interested in Bikegirl. A massive well
done to the RSVR girls for showing loads of improvement
from the start of the day, especially Wendy, you did
great.
Sunday was an early start, signing everyone on and
making sure we were ready and all feeling OK. We went
out for the 1st session and everyone was just finding
their way around. It had already started to dry up
and I think all came in from their 1st session smiling
even though conditions weren’t the best.
As the day went on the weather dried out and everyone
really started to get into to it. We managed to get
6 sessions in although I think most were pooped by
the end of the 5th. I spend every session with someone
and could see everyone improving no end throughout
the day. Again we managed to convince a couple of
ladies who didn’t book through us to join us
in the novice group so we could all ride together,
so that made 10 in all.
Well done to everyone. There were definitely some
naturally talented riders there, you know who you
are, who need to come racing with us next year.
