Feisty RacingTest Day & Girls Track Day- Sunday 17th October, Silverstone

Feisty Racing has swollen its ranks following a successful test day at Silverstone on Sunday 17th October.

More than 30 ladies attended the Bikegirl event, some to try out a track for the first time and others to be assessed for the all girl race team. Deb Cartwright (Supersport 400), Jenny Tinmouth (British GP125), Lyndsey Plastow (R6 Cup) and Jamie Whitham were all on hand to gauge the abilities of potential racers and offer encouragement to the girls.

Team Manager, Susie Grayson, stated that “we are firmly focussing on a three year plan to encourage more women into the sport, and the success of today and our recruitment day 2 weeks ago makes me feel even more positive about the concept.” Susie plans to run an all-girl championship by 2006 and is gathering a considerable amount of support for this throughout the racing world.

Liz Corbey, a relative track novice, had this to say “I had a whale of a time on the track, and had so much more confidence than on my first trackday a couple of months ago at Pembrey. Tazzie (of Feisty Racing) did some body positioning with me and when I started to put some of it into practice on the track it felt brilliant. I'm unsure as to whether anyone on the pit wall heard my "WOO-HOO!!" as I went round the start finish corner faster than I had done all day but I'm a little embarrassed about that now.”

Shelley Smithers met the team for the first time on the day and is now a keen recruit. “Thanks to Susie and Deb for taking the time out to chat; the assessment ride with Deb the best fun all day, especially when she upped the pace. It gives me goose bumps thinking about it!” Deb commented that Shelley’s natural ability impressed her a great deal and she’d be a great asset to the team.

Feisty Racing now boasts 14 female racers and over 10 volunteers, including mechanics for the 2005 season.
The next events planned are a team meeting at the NEC Motorcycle Show in November and a test session in Southern Spain in February.
