Marketa Janakova competes in European Superstock
Bikesport News out today reports that the Czech teenager, Marketa, who competed in the World GP 125 championship as a replacement entry mid last season, is set to compete in the European Superstock cup. Her team, Titano Corse are running her on a GSXR600 - quite a change from the GP125. The class runs alongside European rounds of the World Superbikes. Marketa will be on a running number 77.

There’s yet another girl on the entry list, namely Alessia Polita, #35, last year’s pole lady of the freshly founded Italian Ladies’ Cup. (She couldn’t win her class though because she didn’t finish the second of five races.) Her team is Celani Corse from Italy and she’ll be on a GSX-R 600 too.

Ben Bostrom is back!!!

It 's official. Ben will be gracing the WSB paddock again, this time on a Honda CBR1000RR with the Renegade KOJI team. Get your paddock passes and your cameras at the ready girls. Look out for the usual number 155.

Product Competition: Wiz Sliders
Win "All Twisted and Pucked Up" - a seriously nuts video from the makers of pucker sliders in all sorts of colours and sorts. Also with it you get a set of plain black sparkies all ready for roundabout surfing! Just answer this question:

Wil from Wiz has always been with one woman, since childhood. And sweet as it is, it's also true. Name Wil's partner in full. The answer can be found by browsing around the WIZ Beta site HERE.

Thanks for your many entries. The competition has been won by "Bluewolf" (we may get a name soon) who's prize will be winging its way out very soon.

Thanks to Wiz for the competition.

Could Ben Bostrom be back?

It could all be a rumour created to send a flutter around female hearts but... MCN report that our divine Bozza may well be back in the World Superbike paddock with Honda in 2005. If so, then he may well be at Magny Cours this weekend so I fully intend to grab 5 minutes of his time for an interview, pictures and... well... a hug (swoon). That's if he doesn't see me first, recognise the sad stalker from a couple of years ago and do a quick runner.

The Inside Line: MCN 11th August 2004.
Bikegirl writes for MCN. In fact it was ghost written and not quite as eloquent as I would have liked, but I was being a bit fluffy that day so maybe that's why. Coverage is coverage though, however well written. So thank you MCN. I'm aiming for another news item now.

Previous press mentions:

MCN 28th July - news in brief item
Performance Bikes August issue - letter mentioning the site

Caption competition:

The winner: Rebecca Pittman with "Being incredibly shy, Karen finds a way to experience sex on a bike"

Runners up:
Karen: "So dahlin, excatly where do we sleep again?"
Scotty: "Not quite the kind of Crash Mushroom I had in mind....."
Gravel Rash Lil: "I'm off to the races on Saturday - ladies day at Ascot"

Thanks for your answers, a new one coming soon.

Could it really be true that Brands Hatch will be off the WSB menu next year? Surely we need to keep the only venue that has finally listened to the fans and laid on the BEST facilities in the UK. Brands owner Jonanthan Palmer is in monetary talks with Paolo Flammini the WSB boss according to MCN. Mr Palmer deserves a huge pat on the back, I wish he was organising them all.

Caption competition

The winner:

"Blowing up those tyres really took it out of him" - Kevin Stevenson

Runners up:

"How many times do I have to tell you not to iron my leathers!" - Dave J
World Exclusive "Gatso fines invisible man" - Elfed Jones
"After saving up for the deposit on her new bike, and insurance, Sharon soon realised that she had forgotten to budget for food." - Geoff Byrne

We may have to have a Rogue's Gallery. Here is an excerpt from Carl Fogarty's autobiography "Foggy":

"Riding a bike for pleasure on the roads is also dangerous. Personally I don't see the point in it."
"But girls don't seem to have any sense on a bike, even when they get older"

Well done Foggy, you know how to ingratiate yourself to your public.

Apparantly Troy Bayliss refuses to shave until he wins a race in the 2004 MotoGP. He got a fourth at Mugello, but may be beardy for some time to come...
